Ever since high school I've loved Phantom of the Opera. Then I got into Les Miserables and my life was complete until I found Chess. Miss Saigon was also excellent, and then that was it for me for years until I just recently discovered Sweeney Todd.
Yes, Lainie, I did see the Johnny Depp movie first... but then I went to Youtube and watched the George Hearn/Angela Lansbury version which is very, very different but still wonderful.
Mind you, the only one I have ever seen on stage is Les Miserables. Have to depend on soundtracks, bootlegged videos (did I say that?) and Youtube for the rest.
So what other musicals do you folks like, and why?
